A Message from the Principal
Welcome to Emmons Lake Elementary. In the fall of 2008 I had the privilege of becoming the second principal at Emmons Lake. It's been exciting to be a part of the Emmons Lake Family. The teachers and staff are dedicated to providing students with the high quality education they deserve. They work to prepare them academically, socially and emotionally for life in the 21st century.
The community of Caledonia has provided the students of Emmons Lake a beautiful building in which to learn. It was designed around the students and the curriculum delivery system and has served the student body well since opening its doors in 1999. Emmons Lake Elementary School continues to service the families of Caledonia with academic excellence for students and pride in our warm and family friendly atmosphere.
Emmons Lake operates on an alternative calendar. Our students have seven weeks off during the summer rather than following the traditional calendar. The students at Emmons Lake attend school the same number of days as the rest of the Caledonia district students and make up for the additional summer days by taking a week off in November, a week off in February and an additional week off for spring break. Also, Emmons Lake students do not attend on Fridays in August, giving our families long weekends.
Emmons Lake received accreditation from the North Central Accreditation Association in the fall of 2005 for successfully completing a five year school improvement initiative. Our students continue to perform above the sate and national tests due to this process. Our staff continues to attend conferences and work with other staff members throughout the district to improve our curriculum and ensure that our students are prepared for a successful middle school experience.
Parental involvement is strong at Emmons Lake. The PTO is active and helps to ensure that the teachers have the resources they need in the classroom. They sponsor events for the students such as the Harvest Hustle Walk for Funds, Fall Festival, Reading Incentive Program (RIP) and our Bucketfiller program which focuses on positive student behavior. Parents are actively involved as volunteers in the classrooms and can be found working with students and helping teachers each school day.
The mission of Emmons Lake is to provide an exemplary education for all children in a safe and caring environment. We use that mission to work toward our vision of educational excellence for every child, every day!
