Logging into student

1. Start at Caledonia's Naviance Student page
​2. Login

  • IF you have NOT set up an account:
    • Read and accept the privacy statement to move on
    • Parents register with any email address & password they wish to use
    • Students should register using their School Email address and School ID as the password.
    • Click “I Need to Register” and use the registration code your counselor provided you

 

How to Use Naviance Student Colleges

Seach for Colleges

1. Start at Caledonia's Naviance Student page
2. Enter your School Email address and School ID as the password and click “Login”
3. Click on the “Colleges” tab
4. Add colleges that interest you by:

  • Entering the name of the college in the “Search for Colleges” box on the left
  • Click “Go”

5. Return to the “Colleges” tab
6. Select “Colleges I’m Thinking About” in the My Colleges section to view the colleges that have been added.​

  • Look at the “Delivery Type” column to see how the application should be submitted

​Apply to Colleges

7. When you are ready to apply to a school:

  • Click the box next to the school(s) you’re applying to and click “Move to Application List”
  • Select the type of application
  • Check the appropriate boxes
  • Click “Add Application”
  • An additional tutorial is available that specifically focuses on requesting transcripts

8. Return to the Colleges tab and select “Colleges I’m Applying To”

  • IF you have NOT yet matched your Common App account with Family Connection, do so now (see tutorial below) OR, if you’re absolutely sure you will not be applying to any colleges via Common App, you can instead select “Not Needed”

9. At the bottom of the page, you will see the applications you’re working on.

  • You can update them by clicking the pencil in the Edit column.
    • Enter your deadline
    • *IMPORTANT* Add the Result: accepted, denied, withdrawn, etc. ​

College Acceptance Follow-Up

10. Once you have decided on the college you’re attending:

  • Return to the “Colleges” tab
  • Scroll down to “Colleges that I’m Attending”
  • Using the pull-down menu, select the school you have chosen (congrats!)

Match Common App & Naviance Student Accounts

1. Start at commonapp.org
2. Login

  • IF you have already registered for Common App, enter your email address and password and sign in.
  • IF you have NOT registered for Common App:
    • Be sure to use your student email address to register
    • Click “Go” in the “Create an Account” box

3. Complete the following tasks:

  • TASK 1: Complete the “Current or Most Recent School” section of the “Education” section located under the Common Application tab
    • Hit “Continue”
    • Answer the required questions. If you do not know your counselor’s information, check out our website’s “About” tab at calstu.weelby.com.
    • ​Click on “Find School” and select “Caledonia High School” and hit “Continue”
  • TASK 2: Click on “My Colleges” and add at least one college to your list by:
    • Click the box in front of the correct college and select “Add”
    • Entering in the name and click “Search”
  • TASK 3: Go to “My Colleges” and click “Show Details”.
    • Read and sign the FERPA Release Authorization in the “Recommenders and FERPA”, click the appropriate boxes, sign and date. ​

4. Start at Caledonia's Naviance Student page
5. Enter your School Email address and School ID as the password and click “Login”
6. Select the “Colleges” tab and then “Colleges I’m Applying To”
7. Enter your Common App Email Address and Date of Birth - MUST BE IDENTICAL in both systems
8. Select “Match”

Requesting Transcripts & Letters of Recommendation

1. Start at Caledonia's Naviance Student page
2. Enter your School Email address and School ID as the password and click “Login”
3. Click on “Colleges” and scroll down to “Colleges I’m Applying To”
4. Click “+Add to this List”

  • IF you haven’t already added the school:
    • Search for it by clicking “lookup”
    • Enter the school name and lick “Go”
  • IF you are applying via Common App, you will first need to merge your account with Naviance (see tutorial above)

Transcript Request

5. Click on “Request” in the Transcript column
6. Check the box in the “I have submitted my application” column, if applicable
7. Scroll down and click “Add Colleges”

Letter of Recommendation Request

Some colleges require that letters of recommendation be submitted with your application. To add a request,
8. Scroll down on “Colleges” to “Colleges I’m Applying To”
9. Click on “Letters of Recommendation”
10. Click “Add Request” - If you can’t find your teacher, please contact them asap
11. Select your teacher from the “Select a Teacher” drop-down menu - Be sure you’ve discussed this with them before doing so!
12. Select whether you’d like the letter to be sent to specific colleges, or all of your current and future applications.
13. Click “Submit Request”

Scholarship Search via Naviance Student

1. Start at Caledonia's Naviance Student page
2. Enter your School Email address and School ID as the password and click “Login”
3. Click on "Colleges" & scroll down to "Scholarships & Money"
4. Select either "Scholarship Match", to find scholarships matched to your specific profile OR...
5. Select "Scholarship List", to find a complete list of scholarships in our database
