According to Michigan legislative requirements, each school district is to offer instruction related to reproductive health. The mandates indicate specific instruction per grade level, from the later stages of elementary through high school. These mandates are to include medically accurate information about human immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV) and facts about abstaining from sexual intercourse (i.e., that it is a positive lifestyle for unmarried young people and the only protection from unplanned pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases).
Below, you will find the latest notes from the Board of Education approved Reproductive Health Committee. For the purpose of meeting the obligations from the State, this Committee is known as the Sex Education Advisory Board.
