Junior Parent Night

​​Student Services hosted a JUNIOR parent/student meeting on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 7:00 PM. You will find each presentation that was shared, below. 

Junior Year Post-Secondary Timeline

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER/NOVEMBER

  • Sign up to attend college admission rep visits.
  • Schedule visits to college campuses.  Pick up attendance form from student services or attendance.  Fill it out & return before visit
  • Junior Meetings - be sure to choose an appropriate college prep or career related senior year schedule.
  • Join a school activity or club.  
  • Check out the Talk and Tour Career Series and sign up for the ones that interest you.
  • Oct 16: Sign up for, and take, the PSAT-NMSQT to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship
  • Nov 7: Attend Junior Night, with a parent

DECEMBER

  • Consider registering for the February ACT or January SAT
  • Junior Meetings - be sure to choose an appropriate college prep or career related senior year schedule.
  • Review results of PSAT and begin preparing for the SAT
  • Get involved with a community service project or volunteer

JANUARY/FEBRUARY

MARCH

  • Continue to prepare for SAT with Khan Academy
  • Stay involved with clubs and activities, community service and volunteering
  • March 13: Attend Groundhog Job Shadow Day

APRIL/MAY

  • Potential college student-athletes should register with NCAA or NAIA
  • Set up and attend college campus visits
  • Meet with your counselor to make any final changes to your senior year schedule.
  • Sign up for summer programs with local colleges

JUNE-AUGUST

  • Focus on picking your top 3 schools, complete all college visits
